Arnold Schwarzenegger received his first role as an actor in 1969 in the film 'Hercules in New York'. He still performed under the pseudonym Arnold Strong in this film. In 1982, Schwarzenegger gained greater recognition for his leading role in 'Conan the Barbarian'. Arnold Schwarzenegger achieved his definitive breakthrough in 1984 with his leading role in 'The Terminator', directed by James Cameron.

He is a member of the Republican Party in the USA and became the 38th Governor of the State of California in November 2003. He held this office for two terms and was unable to run for re-election in 2010, as the term of office for a Governor in California is limited to two legislative periods.
