Edward Burns

Edward Burns was born on January 29, 1968, in Woodside, New York, and works as an actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He achieved his breakthrough with his independent debut film "The Brothers McMullen" (1995) - the low-budget drama about three Irish-American brothers won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and established Burns as a promising talent in American independent cinema.

In the following years, Edward Burns expanded his career both in front of and behind the camera. He wrote, produced, and directed films such as "She's the One" (1996) and "Sidewalks of New York" (2001), in which he also took the lead role. As an actor, Burns appeared in Steven Spielberg's war epic "Saving Private Ryan" (1998) alongside Tom Hanks, where he portrayed Private Richard Reiben. Other significant roles included "15 Minutes" (2001) with Robert De Niro and the series "Entourage" (2006-2011), where he played himself.

Edward Burns remained true to independent film and continued to shoot smaller, personal projects such as "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas" (2012) and "Public Morals" (2015), a television series he created about corrupt New York police officers in the 1960s. His works are characterized by authentic dialogue and the portrayal of Irish-American milieus.
