Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on 15 April 1990 in Paris, France, but holds British citizenship.

In 2001, Emma Watson's career began when she was 11 years old with her role as Hermione Granger in the film adaptation of the first Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Seven more Harry Potter film adaptations followed until 2011.

In 2014, Emma Watson portrayed the character of Ila in Darren Aronofsky's fantasy and biblical film 'Noah' alongside Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, and Jennifer Connelly. In 2015, Emma Watson played Lena alongside Daniel Brühl in the German-French-Luxembourg co-production 'Colonia', directed by Florian Gallenberger, a fictional story set against the real background of the Colonia Dignidad sect settlement in Chile.

Emma Watson is a strong international advocate for women's rights and was appointed UN Special Ambassador for Women's and Girls' Rights in 2014.

Throughout her film career, Emma Watson was almost exclusively dubbed by Gabrielle Pietermann in the German synchronized versions. In individual films, Emma Watson was also voiced by Austrian-Swiss actress Miriam Stein and German dubbing voice artist Maria Koschny.
