Famke Janssen was born on 5 November 1964 in Amstelveen in the Netherlands and is internationally known as an actress and former model. Having studied literature, she began her career in the 1980s as a model before transitioning to film in the early 1990s, quickly establishing herself as a versatile performer.
Famke Janssen achieved her international breakthrough in 1995 in the role of the lethal Bond girl Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye. The Dutch actress impressed with her presence and striking demeanour, paving the way for further major productions. Famke Janssen gained particular recognition for her portrayal of Dr Jean Grey in the X-Men film series, beginning with X-Men in 2000 and continuing through several sequels. In this role, she embodied one of the most complex characters in the Marvel universe and became an integral part of the successful franchise.
Further defining roles followed in films such as The Faculty (1998), the Taken trilogy (2008-2014) alongside Liam Neeson, and the television series Hemlock Grove (2013-2015).
