Jack Nicholson

John Joseph 'Jack' Nicholson was born on April 22, 1937, in Neptune City, New Jersey (USA). He is considered one of the best-known and most successful actors in Hollywood. Nicholson initially worked as a messenger boy at the renowned American film production company MGM. Shortly thereafter, he handled fan mail for the animated characters 'Tom and Jerry' there. After Jack Nicholson attended Jeff Corey's acting class in the 1950s, he worked closely with producer Roger Corman for the first few years. Jack Nicholson had his first major breakthrough in 1969 with the road movie Easy Rider, directed by Dennis Hopper. Jack Nicholson received a total of 3 Oscars and was nominated for an Oscar 12 times. He won the Oscar for Best Actor in 1975 for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and in 1997 for As Good as It Gets. In 1984, he received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Terms of Endearment.

Since the 1980s, Jack Nicholson has been dubbed for the German versions of his films by German actor and voice actor Joachim Kerzel. At the beginning of his career, Nicholson was still voiced by Manfred Schott (as was Dustin Hoffman), who, however, died in a car accident in 1982. Jörg Pleva provided the German dubbing voice for Jack Nicholson in Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining at the personal request of the director. Kubrick was so impressed by Pleva's voice for the role of Alex DeLarge in the German dubbed version of A Clockwork Orange that he insisted on casting Jörg Pleva's voice for the lead roles in the German versions of his subsequent films. Hansjörg Felmy was the German voice of Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.
