Kevin Kline was born on October 24, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, and is considered one of Hollywood's most versatile character actors. The American actor first made a name for himself in theater before achieving success on screen from the late 1970s onwards. His range extends from serious dramas to sparkling comedies and major blockbusters.
Kevin Kline achieved his breakthrough in 1982 with the role of Nathan Landau in "Sophie's Choice." He became internationally known through films such as "The Big Chill" (1983) and "Silverado" (1985). For his portrayal of the eccentric gangster Otto in "A Fish Called Wanda" (1988), Kevin Kline received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In the 1990s, he appeared in Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare adaptation "Much Ado About Nothing" (1993) and in "French Kiss" (1995) alongside Meg Ryan.
Further defining roles followed in "In & Out" (1997), for which Kevin Kline received a Golden Globe nomination, as well as in "Wild Wild West" (1999). He excelled in "De-Lovely" (2004) as Cole Porter and appeared in "The Conspirator" (2010) and "No Strings Attached" (2011). Kevin Kline also made a name for himself as a voice actor, notably as Phoebus in Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1996).
