British actor Sir Patrick Stewart was born on July 13, 1940, in Mirfield (West Yorkshire, England). Patrick Stewart also works as a producer and director. He is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). He gained fame primarily through his portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the series and films about the Starship Enterprise.
From 1966 to 1982, Patrick Stewart performed as an actor in numerous Shakespeare productions as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. As a film actor, he initially appeared only in smaller roles. Among others, he played the role of stable master Wilkins in Little Lord Fauntleroy (1980) or the role of Leodegrance in Excalibur (1981).
In 1986, Star Trek producer Robert Justman took notice of Patrick Stewart. From 1987 to 1994, he embodied Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also played this role in a total of four Star Trek feature films.
Since 2000, Patrick Stewart has played the role of Professor Charles Francis Xavier in the X-Men film adaptations. Since the mid-2000s, Stewart has also increasingly taken on voice roles in animated series and video games.
