Mathias Bauer's path to becoming a professional voice artist began with the fall of the Berlin Wall. As a pub owner in Bonn during the 1980s, he served numerous prominent figures from radio and television. Inspired by these encounters, he seized the optimistic atmosphere of reunification and the government's move to Berlin to try his hand in the media industry himself – with success: after just three weeks at Deutsche Welle, he read the live news for the first time. The excitement of that first recording has since given way to experience and calm professionalism: Mathias Bauer has been working full-time in recording studios for over thirty years. His portfolio is correspondingly extensive, encompassing renowned radio and TV broadcasters (including Deutschlandfunk, 3sat, ZDF, Arte and Phoenix) as well as corporate clients (such as Siemens, VW, BMW, Pfizer, Hyundai). For him, working behind the microphone is "the crowning achievement of a colourful life".
