Communication and exchange beyond everyday work

The starting gun goes off in June: from now on we'll be inviting you to exhibitions, concerts and conversation in Berlin's Schiller-Kiez. Under the name "Loft-Kultur" we're establishing a salon series that deliberately extends the space defined by work, while still connecting with it thematically. The idea is to make possible a kind of exchange that is often impossible, or only possible to a limited extent, within the tight schedule of a working day. By combining it with art and culture, this space is meant to encourage people to develop creative ideas and expand their personal network. The up to 100 guests at each event will, of course, also have the chance to enjoy wines selected to match each event, plus some culinary treats. After all, a dry palate and a hungry stomach don't like networking!

Our opening event in June has a musical theme: "KlavierStimmen" (piano voices/piano tuning). Piano maker and head of the "C. Bechstein Centrum Berlin" Torben Garlin will give a short talk introducing the tuning and voicing of a grand piano. On this freshly tuned instrument, Prof. Eric Schneider of the "Berlin University of the Arts" will play the 4th movement of Beethoven's legendary Hammerklavier Sonata. Arno Lücker (pianist, composer and dramaturge) and Sebastian Köchig (tenor at the Staatstheater Nürnberg) will perform two songs by Georg Kreisler from their current cabaret programme. The programme will be rounded off by Friede Merz & Band with "Berlin indie rock".

In September 2017 the first art exhibition at our premises will follow, showing paintings by the well-known artist, author and restaurant critic Thomas Platt. We'll kick it off with a vernissage. The exhibition, which will then run until December, will also be open to the public. On weekdays between 11 am and 5 pm our doors will be open to anyone interested.

Our planning even extends into 2018. From February there will be another exhibition by the Berlin-based artist Marcus Fauser: "Schwarz ist gut für Dich!" (Black is good for you!). Under this motto, works will be shown from Marcus Fauser's sculptural and experimental approach, which he has developed through years of intensive engagement with creating visual feedback loops.
