Alessandro, we're now officially welcoming you on our speaker-search blog too. Please introduce yourself briefly.

I grew up in Rome and lived there until 2006. My mother is from Germany, my father is Italian. When I was almost 15 I started to get interested in everything to do with “sound & audio”. That hasn't changed to this day. Since 2006 I've been living happily in Berlin with my wonderful wife and our son.

Besides my family and music, I'm particularly interested in football. I like watching matches on TV, preferably those of my favourite club, AS Roma, of course, but I'm also passionate about playing myself.


You work as a sound engineer for film and advertising. How did you get into this profession?

As a teenager I fell in love with music. I was especially into rap. I started producing my own beats early on and tried my hand as a DJ. With friends I recorded songs and then edited them in my own little studio. Music has accompanied me throughout my life ever since. From school and university to my current job as a sound engineer. It's a very interesting and varied job. You can bring your creativity into the work. And because I'm always open to new approaches, it never gets boring.


And how did you come across speaker-search?

The story began about three years ago: I came across a job on a forum. The sound engineer of the online magazine Vice was looking for someone to mix a documentary report for him. I got that job from Vice and many more in the period that followed. Through this work I also got to know the voice artist Oliver Brod , who became a good friend.  We started recommending each other for jobs. That's how I came to speaker-search. I worked for the agency as a freelancer for over a year, and in January I joined the team permanently.


What are your responsibilities at speaker-search?

My official title is “Head of Sound”! On the one hand I'm responsible for the workflows of all productions; on the other, I'm actively developing the studio technology and equipment together with Jörn. As a mixing engineer, I make sure the final sound is simply perfect! That can be anything from the broadcast-compliant mixing and mastering of a commercial to mixing a complete film.


You've been with us for almost a month now.  How do you like it here?
 
I really like it here. I have a lot of freedom and can organise my work well. It was also important to me that I have the feeling speaker-search is a “family-friendly” employer, because it matters to me to have enough time for my son. The working atmosphere is very pleasant. You feel as though we're a little family where you can talk about anything and where everyone helps each other.
