On 15 January 2017 you began your apprenticeship as an audiovisual media management assistant with our company. Would you like to introduce yourself briefly first?
I'm Julia, I'm 21 and originally from beautiful eastern Hesse. For the past six months I've been living – and experiencing – the Berlin adventure, and I feel really at home. When I'm not meeting up with friends in my free time, I spend a lot of my time making music. Whether just for myself or at all sorts of events back home, where I occasionally get to delight people with my singing.
How did you come up with the idea of an apprenticeship in audiovisual media?
I came up with the idea while talking to a friend about where we see ourselves in a few years. She said to me: “You'll definitely end up doing something in media!”. And since she knows me very well, she was of course right. When I researched training opportunities related to this field, I came across the “audiovisual media management assistant” profession. After reading up on it further, I knew it suited me very well, and so my career choice was settled.
What particularly interested you about the voice-over industry?
During my intensive application phase I looked at various industries. Some of them I already knew. A voice agency and everything around it were new territory for me. And new things always appeal to me a lot! Once I'd looked into this field more closely, my interest was piqued!
How did you come up with the idea of applying to speaker-search?
Once I'd decided on my future field of work, I searched the internet for voice agencies. With a few keyword combinations on Google, I came straight across speaker-search's job advert. After my very first impressions from the website and other channels such as Facebook and Instagram, I wrote my application. I had the feeling that everything could simply fit: a field of work that seemed very interesting and varied, a company with a wide reach. On top of that, starting the apprenticeship in January suited me very well. So I applied!
What convinced you about speaker-search?
In December I was able to spend a week shadowing at the agency. I got to know the industry itself, but also the team a bit better, and was immediately hooked. The open-hearted and obliging manner of the voice artists and my colleagues, the many-sided tasks and the relaxed working atmosphere definitely won me over. And by the Christmas party at the latest, I was 100% sure that I wanted to work here.
What's your impression after your first two weeks at speaker-search?
So far I've had nothing but positive experiences. I've been well integrated into the team, and the varied tasks mean I haven't been bored yet. I really love dealing with the voice artists and being close to them. I simply feel at home here and I'm excited about the years ahead!
What topics are you most looking forward to?
I find it really exciting to watch the process of a project and be part of it. I'm looking forward to working on and looking after lots of jobs. After all, it's a great feeling to be able to present a successful product to the client at the end. I've also already met some voice artists I got on really well with. And being part of a dynamic, professional team where collaboration, not rigid hierarchies, comes first really motivates me!
