John Heard

John Heard was an American actor, born on March 7, 1946 in Washington, D.C., who passed away on July 21, 2017. For over four decades, he left his mark on American cinema and television with his commanding presence.

John Heard achieved his breakthrough in the late 1970s with roles in films such as "Between the Lines" (1977) and "Heart Beat" (1980), in which he portrayed Beat author Jack Kerouac. He gained international recognition in 1990 through his role as Peter McCallister, the father in the comedy "Home Alone," which became one of the most successful films in cinema history. John Heard reprised this role in the sequel "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" (1992).

In addition to his work in film, John Heard was also a presence on television. He appeared in numerous series, including "The Sopranos," "Prison Break," and "CSI: Miami." For his performance in the series "The Sopranos," he received an Emmy nomination. His other notable film work included "Awakenings" (1990) alongside Robert De Niro and Robin Williams, as well as "The Pelican Brief" (1993) with Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.
