Mads Dittmann Mikkelsen was born on November 22, 1965, in Copenhagen and is a Danish actor who ranks among the most sought-after character actors internationally. Originally trained as a dancer and choreographer, Mads Mikkelsen transitioned to acting in the mid-1990s and first established himself in Danish film and television.
Mads Mikkelsen achieved his international breakthrough in 2006 as the ice-cold poker villain Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale," the first James Bond film starring Daniel Craig in the title role. This performance earned him worldwide recognition and opened doors to Hollywood. Prior to this, he had already collaborated with Nicolas Winding Refn in his native Denmark on "Pusher" (1996) and "Bleeder" (1999), and won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his leading role in "The Hunt" (2012).
In the following years, Mads Mikkelsen took on distinctive roles in major productions such as "Clash of the Titans" (2010), the series "Hannibal" (2013-2015) as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and "Doctor Strange" (2016) as the antagonist Kaecilius. Other defining works included "Arctic" (2018), in which he portrayed a man stranded in the Arctic, and "Another Round" (2020), which won the Oscar for Best International Film. In 2022, Mads Mikkelsen took over the role of Gellert Grindelwald in "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore."
The German dubbing voice of Mads Mikkelsen is Matthias Klie, who lends his distinctive voice to the Danish actor.
