Naveen Andrews, born on January 17, 1969, in London, is a British actor who gained international recognition primarily through his role as Sayid Jarrah in the series "Lost". The son of Indian immigrants, Naveen Andrews grew up in England and began his acting career in the early 1990s. He first attracted attention in 1991 with Hanif Kureishi's directorial debut "London Kills Me", and achieved his breakthrough in 1993 as Karim in the BBC adaptation of Kureishi's novel "The Buddha of Suburbia". Naveen Andrews became known to a wider audience through his impressive portrayal of Kip Singh in Anthony Minghella's Oscar-winning drama "The English Patient" (1996), in which he starred alongside Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.
Naveen Andrews celebrated his greatest career success from 2004 onwards in the mystery series "Lost", in which he portrayed Iraqi ex-soldier Sayid for six seasons. The series became a global phenomenon and earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2006. After "Lost", roles followed in productions such as "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" (2013-2014), in which he played Jafar, as well as in the miniseries "Sense8" (2015-2018) by the Wachowskis.
