Robert Pattinson was born on 13 May 1986 in London and is internationally known as an actor, model, and musician. His career began with minor roles on British television before he was introduced to a worldwide audience in 2005 as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Robert Pattinson achieved his definitive breakthrough in 2008 with the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight, a vampire romance based on the bestselling series by Stephenie Meyer. The film series turned him into a teen idol and global star. In the following years, he portrayed Edward Cullen in all subsequent instalments of the successful saga, including The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), and the two concluding films Breaking Dawn (2011 and 2012).
After the end of the Twilight era, Robert Pattinson deliberately turned to more demanding and artistically ambitious projects. He worked with renowned directors such as David Cronenberg on Cosmopolis (2012) and Maps to the Stars (2014), with Werner Herzog on Queen of the Desert (2015), and with the Safdie Brothers on Good Time (2017). He received great critical acclaim for his performance in The Lighthouse (2019) alongside Willem Dafoe.
