British actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was born on September 25, 1969, in Swansea, Wales. Even as a child, she performed in theater and sang in a Catholic church choir. At just 15 years old, Catherine Zeta-Jones moved to London to pursue an acting career. By the age of 17, she had already landed a role in the musical 42nd Street, which brought her considerable recognition.

Catherine Zeta-Jones had her first major roles in the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (1992-1993) and in the US-British historical film Christopher Columbus: The Discovery (1992). Her Hollywood breakthrough came soon after: in 1998, Catherine Zeta-Jones starred alongside Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins in The Mask of Zorro.

In the following years, Catherine Zeta-Jones appeared in several well-known films including The Haunting (1999), Traffic (2000), and Chicago (2002), for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2000, Catherine Zeta-Jones married actor Michael Douglas.
