Dudley Moore

Dudley Stuart John Moore was a British actor, comedian, pianist, and composer, born on 19 April 1935 in Dagenham, England, who passed away on 27 March 2002. With his distinctive small stature of just 1.57 metres and his dry British humour, Moore shaped the international film and television landscape for several decades.

Moore began his career in the 1960s as part of the comedy duo "Peter Cook and Dudley Moore", which achieved great success with the satire show "Not Only... But Also". He made his breakthrough in film in 1979 with the romantic comedy "10", in which he starred alongside Bo Derek. Two years later came his most famous role in "Arthur" (1981), for which Dudley Moore received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. The story of the charming but alcoholic millionaire made him a star and earned him a Golden Globe. The sequel "Arthur 2: On the Rocks" (1988), whilst unable to match the success of the original, nevertheless cemented Moore's status as a comedy specialist. Other important films included "Lovesick" (1983), "Micki + Maude" (1984), and "Like Father Like Son" (1987).
