John Cleese

John Marwood Cleese was born on 27 October 1939 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. The British actor, screenwriter and voice actor was a member of the famous British comedy group 'Monty Python', who achieved worldwide fame with their comedy show 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' from 1969 onwards.

In 1975, John Cleese played Sir Lancelot in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. In 1979, John Cleese also appeared in 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' in several roles.

In the Harry Potter films, John Cleese played the role of Nearly Headless Nick. In the two James Bond films 'The World Is Not Enough' (1999) and 'Die Another Day' (2002), he played the character 'R', as successor to the gadget master 'Q' (Desmond Llewelyn).

One of his greatest successes was the 1988 feature film 'A Fish Called Wanda', in which John Cleese not only played the role of Archie Leach but also wrote the screenplay.

John Cleese's German voice is primarily provided by Thomas Danneberg. However, in individual films or television series, he has also been dubbed by various other German voice actors.
