British-Australian actress Naomi Ellen Watts was born on September 28, 1968, in Shoreham (Kent, England). Already in her youth, Naomi Watts received acting training and appeared in several commercials. During this time, she also met Nicole Kidman – they have been friends ever since.

Naomi Watts had her first major role in 1991 in the Australian feature film 'Flirting' alongside Nicole Kidman and Thandie Newton. A few years later, Naomi Watts moved to the USA, where Nicole Kidman introduced her to several acting agents. In 1993, Naomi Watts landed her first major leading role in the film 'Gross Misconduct' directed by George Trumbull Miller, for whose production she briefly returned to Australia.

Unfortunately, the following years were marked by some difficulties: a lack of job offers also led to financial constraints. Ultimately, it paid off for Naomi Watts not to give up her acting career. In 2001, she was given the lead role by David Lynch in 'Mulholland Drive'. Another success came a year later with the lead role in the horror film 'The Ring' directed by Gore Verbinski. In 2003, she played a leading role alongside Kate Hudson in 'Le Divorce'. That same year, she appeared alongside Sean Penn in '21 Grams' and in 2004 in 'The Assassination of Richard Nixon'. Naomi Watts also received high praise for her role in 'Ellie Parker' (2005).

Naomi Watts' most commercially successful film project followed in 2005 with the lead role in 'King Kong', which won Oscars in three categories. In 2009, she played the lead role in Tom Tykwer's 'The International', and in 2012 a leading role in 'The Impossible', which was received very positively by critics.
