Dan Aykroyd

Canadian actor Daniel (Dan) Edward Aykroyd was born on July 1, 1952, in Ottawa, Canada. While studying sociology, Dan Aykroyd was already performing in student theater. From 1972 onwards, he performed sketches in a comedy show on a Canadian private cable channel.

Dan Aykroyd became known to a wider audience when he co-created the NBC television series 'Saturday Night Live' with other actors. Shortly thereafter, he founded the band 'The Blues Brothers' together with John Belushi. This led to the film 'The Blues Brothers' (1980), directed by John Landis. This film finally made Dan Aykroyd known to an international audience. In 1984 and 1989, Dan Aykroyd played the role of Dr. Raymond "Ray" Stantz in the films 'Ghostbusters' and 'Ghostbusters II' alongside Bill Murray.

For his role in the film 'Driving Miss Daisy' (1989), Dan Aykroyd was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Recently, Dan Aykroyd has been seen almost exclusively in television productions, but also works as a producer.
