Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester 'Sly' Gardenzio Stallone was born on July 6, 1946, in New York City, New York (USA). In addition to his work as a film actor, he is also active as a producer, screenwriter, and director.

Sylvester Stallone achieved his breakthrough with the film 'Rocky' (1976), for which he not only took on the lead role but also wrote the screenplay. Stallone was inspired to create his story of boxer Rocky Balboa by the boxing match between Chuck Wepner and the then world champion Muhammad Ali. This film was nominated for Oscars in ten categories in 1977 and ultimately won three Oscars (Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Editing). In total, there were seven sequels in the Rocky series between 1979 and 2015.

Sylvester Stallone celebrated his second major success just a few years later with the character that perhaps the majority associate him with: John J. Rambo. In 'First Blood' (1982), Sylvester Stallone not only played the lead role but also co-wrote the screenplay—as he did in the two subsequent Rambo films, 'Rambo: First Blood Part II' (1985) and 'Rambo III' (1988).

In the early 1990s, Sylvester Stallone wanted to change his image with film comedies like 'Oscar' (1991) or 'Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot' (1992). However, this attempt failed. With films like 'Cliffhanger' (1993), 'Demolition Man' (1993), or 'The Specialist' (1994), Sylvester Stallone was quickly able to build on his original successes.

The two 'Expendables' films (2010 and 2012) are also very well known. These films featured a number of action stars including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris (only 'The Expendables 2'), Jean-Claude Van Damme (only 'The Expendables 2'), Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The German dubbing voice of Sylvester Stallone is Berlin-based actor, voice actor, and dubbing director Thomas Danneberg, who is also the main voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the two films 'The Expendables' and 'The Expendables 2', in which Arnold Schwarzenegger also appears, Thomas Danneberg voices both characters. Initially, Sylvester Stallone was also occasionally voiced by actor Jürgen Prochnow.
