Roland Slaby entered the world of professional voice-over through a curious twist of fate: He originally wanted to become a sound engineer and applied for a job posting at Radio Max in 1997. During the interview, it turned out that they were actually looking for someone to host radio shows. He spontaneously took on the unexpected audition and was hired on the spot—what Roland Slaby calls the most wonderful misunderstanding of his life. Over time, he became the station voice for ORF 2 and the signature voice for Life Radio OÖ and U1 Tirol. Commercial spots for radio and television quickly followed, including recordings for McDonald's, Ikea, and Lucy Car. Today, he works across every conceivable genre, with station voices, documentaries, and audiobooks being his specialties.
