Dave Goelz

Dave Goelz is an American puppeteer, voice artist, and producer who has been one of the most renowned performers at the Jim Henson Company since the 1970s. He was born on July 16, 1946, in Los Angeles, California. Goelz became world-famous primarily through his work on "The Muppet Show" and numerous Muppet films.

Dave Goelz achieved his breakthrough in 1974 when he joined Jim Henson's Muppet family. He quickly developed into one of the troupe's most important puppeteers and took on several leading roles. His most famous character is the eccentric Great Gonzo, who became famous for his stunts and his chicken Camilla. Goelz not only brought Gonzo to life but also provided his distinctive voice - in productions such as "The Muppet Show" (1976-1981), "The Muppet Movie" (1979), "The Great Muppet Caper" (1981), and "The Muppets Take Manhattan" (1984).

In addition to Gonzo, Dave Goelz also performs other beloved characters, including the pedantic Muppet scientist Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his long-suffering assistant Beaker. He also worked as a puppeteer and voice artist for several characters in "Fraggle Rock" (1983-1987). He continued his work in more recent productions such as "The Muppets" (2011), "Muppets Most Wanted" (2014), and the series "The Muppets" (2015-2016).
