James Eugene 'Jim' Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket (Ontario, Canada). The Canadian-American actor and comedian first gained widespread recognition through the film 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'. Although Carrey was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award as Worst New Star for this role, the film was a true box office success.

Further successful roles followed. In 1997, he played the role of Fletcher Reede in Tom Shadyac's film 'Liar Liar'. For this role, Jim Carrey was also nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. In 1998, Carrey played the role of Truman Burbank in the film 'The Truman Show'. Just one year later, he achieved his next success with the role of Andy Kaufman in 'Man on the Moon'. For both of these roles, Carrey was awarded a Golden Globe.

In the following years, there were numerous other films in which Jim Carrey successfully appeared, such as 'Me, Myself & Irene' (2000), 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' (2000), 'Bruce Almighty' (2003), and 'Fun with Dick and Jane' (2005).

Seit dem Film "Applaus für Janet" im Jahr 1981 ist der Synchronschauspieler Stefan Fredrich die deutsche Stimme des US-Schauspielers Jim Carrey ("The Truman Show", "Der Mondmann"). Der Berliner, der seine Wurzeln im Schauspiel hat, synchronisiert auch viele andere Stars wie z.B. John Turturro ("Barton Fink", "The Big Lebowski") und Vince Vaughn ("Trennung mit Hindernissen", "All Inclusive"). Mit seiner flexiblen und facettenreichen Stimme gibt er jeder Rolle einen besonderen Charakter. Auch als Dialogregisseur ist Stefan erfolgreich. So übernahm er unter anderem die Regie für die deutschen Synchronfassungen von "Eine wie keine", "Big Mamas Haus" und "Aquaman."
