Laurence Fishburne

Laurence Fishburne was born on July 30, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia, and works as an actor, producer, and director. His career began at a young age when, still a teenager, he took on a small role in Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" (1979). However, Laurence Fishburne's international breakthrough didn't come until the 1990s.

His powerful portrayal of Ike Turner in "What's Love Got to Do with It" (1993) alongside Angela Bassett earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. But Laurence Fishburne became a cinema icon through his legendary role as Morpheus in the science fiction trilogy "The Matrix" (1999), "The Matrix Reloaded" (2003), and "The Matrix Revolutions" (2003). His embodiment of the wise mentor who introduces Neo to the secrets of the Matrix ranks among the most defining characters in modern film history.

Throughout his career, Laurence Fishburne has repeatedly collaborated with renowned directors. In addition to the Wachowskis, he worked with John Singleton on "Boyz n the Hood" (1991) and appeared in Steven Soderbergh's "Contagion" (2011). Laurence Fishburne also demonstrated his versatility in the successful series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", where he played Dr. Raymond Langston from 2008 to 2011. Furthermore, he lent his distinctive voice to the Silver Surfer in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (2007).
