Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born on May 16, 1953, in Drogheda, Ireland. In the 1980s, he became known to a wide audience through his portrayal of private detective Remington Steele in the television series of the same name (1982-1987), alongside Stephanie Zimbalist.
In the mid-1980s, producer Albert R. Broccoli was searching for a successor to Roger Moore as James Bond. Originally, Broccoli wanted to cast Pierce Brosnan for The Living Daylights (1987), but Brosnan had to decline as he was still under contract for the production of Remington Steele. As a result, Timothy Dalton took on the role of the British agent in 1987. Timothy Dalton also starred in the subsequent James Bond film, Licence to Kill (1989).
In the meantime, Pierce Brosnan played other successful roles, such as Dr. Lawrence Angelo in The Lawnmower Man (1992), directed by Brett Leonard, or Stuart Dunmeyer in Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), alongside Robin Williams.
In 1994, Pierce Brosnan finally became James Bond, which can undoubtedly be considered the role of his lifetime. He appeared as the British secret agent four times: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).
The regular German dubbing voice of Pierce Brosnan is Berlin-based actor Frank Glaubrecht. In the early 1990s, Pierce Brosnan was also voiced several times by Joachim Tennstedt.
