Jamie Lee Curtis

American actress Jamie Lee Curtis was born on November 22, 1958, in Los Angeles (California, USA). The daughter of actor Tony Curtis had her first major film appearance in John Carpenter's 'Halloween' (1978), after initially playing supporting roles in television productions at the beginning of her career. Through this and other roles in horror films of the 1970s and 1980s, she earned the reputation of a scream queen.

This perception began to change slowly with Jamie Lee Curtis' role in 'Trading Places' (1983). For her portrayal of the prostitute 'Ophelia', she received the British Academy Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she became one of Hollywood's most successful stars. Jamie Lee Curtis appeared alongside John Travolta in 'Perfect' (1985) directed by James Bridges, in the film 'Dominick & Eugene' (1988), and in 'A Fish Called Wanda' (1988) alongside John Cleese and Kevin Kline. For this role, Jamie Lee Curtis was nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Awards.

In 1994, she starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'True Lies' directed by James Cameron. For this role, she received a Golden Globe. In 1998, Jamie Lee Curtis once again portrayed the character of Laurie Strode (as she had in 1978's Halloween) in the film 'Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later'. Another sequel in this series followed in 2002 with 'Halloween: Resurrection'.
