Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, as the son of a US American soldier and his German mother. In New York, he gained his first acting experience at various theaters. From 1985, he appeared in the detective series Moonlighting as private detective David Addison alongside Cybill Shepherd. For this role, Willis received an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1987. Bruce Willis achieved his breakthrough as an actor in 1988 with his role as New York police officer John McClane in Die Hard.
