Charlie Cox was born on 15 December 1982 in London and is a British actor who achieved international recognition primarily through his portrayal of the blind superhero Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. He began his career in theatre before turning to film and television, establishing himself as a versatile performer.
Charlie Cox had his breakthrough in 2007 in the novel adaptation "Stardust", in which he took on the lead role of Tristan Thorn alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro. In the following years, he appeared in various productions, including the series "Boardwalk Empire" (2011-2013), in which he portrayed Irish immigrant Owen Sleater. However, Charlie Cox found his defining role in 2015 when he was cast as blind lawyer and vigilante Matt Murdock in the Netflix series "Daredevil". The series ran for three seasons until 2018 and established Cox as one of the most popular actors in the Marvel Universe.
After the end of "Daredevil", Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021) and the Disney+ series "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" (2022). In 2024, the continuation "Daredevil: Born Again" was announced, in which he will once again take on the title role. Besides his Marvel appearances, Cox also starred in the Netflix series "Treason" (2022).
The German dubbing voice of Charlie Cox is Tim Knauer, who lends the actor his distinctive voice in his productions, thus becoming the familiar sound of Daredevil for German-speaking audiences as well.
