American actor Jamie Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop on December 13, 1967, in Terrell, Kaufman County (Texas, USA). In addition to his work as an actor, he is also active as a musician and comedian.

The artistically talented Jamie Foxx began his career as a stand-up comedian performing in clubs in Los Angeles and appeared in the early 1990s on the TV comedy series 'In Living Color'. Starting in 1996, he became known to a wide television audience primarily through 'The Jamie Foxx Show'.

As a musician, Jamie Foxx released several albums. 'Peep This' (1995) even reached number 12 on the US Billboard charts.

Jamie Foxx had his first film role in 1992. Alongside Robin Williams, he appeared in the American comedy 'Toys'. In 1999, he played the role of quarterback Willie Beamen in Oliver Stone's football drama 'Any Given Sunday'. Jamie Foxx achieved his definitive breakthrough as an actor alongside Tom Cruise. In 2004, he played the role of Max Durocher in 'Collateral'.

In the film 'Ray' (2004), Jamie Foxx played blind singer Ray Charles. For this role, he received a Golden Globe. The film 'Dreamgirls' (2006), in which he played the role of Curtis Taylor, Jr. alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson, won two Oscars.
