Michael Caine was born on 14 March 1933 in London and is considered one of the most versatile British actors of his generation. With a career spanning more than six decades, he has shaped international cinema through his distinctive voice and unmistakable presence.
Michael Caine achieved his breakthrough in the 1960s with the role of secret agent Harry Palmer in "The Ipcress File" (1965). This was followed by defining performances in classics such as "Alfie" (1966), for which he received his first Oscar nomination, and "The Italian Job" (1969). In the 1970s and 1980s, Michael Caine established himself as one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, working with renowned directors. He won his first Oscar for his supporting role in "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986), and received his second for "The Cider House Rules" (1999).
A particularly significant collaboration developed from 2005 with director Christopher Nolan. In his Batman trilogy, Michael Caine portrayed butler Alfred Pennyworth, and also appeared in "The Prestige" (2006), "Inception" (2010) and "Interstellar" (2014). His other notable roles include appearances in "The Quiet American" (2002), "Children of Men" (2006) and "Youth" (2015).
