Zach Braff

Zach Braff was born on April 6, 1975, in South Orange, New Jersey, and works as an actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He grew up in an artistically influenced family and gained his first acting experience in theater as a child.

Zach Braff achieved his international breakthrough in 2001 with the leading role of young doctor Dr. John "J.D." Dorian in the comedy series Scrubs (2001-2010). The series became a worldwide success and made Zach Braff one of the most recognizable faces on American television. His portrayal of the likably neurotic physician earned him several nominations for prestigious television awards, including an Emmy and three Golden Globe nominations.

Parallel to his television career, Zach Braff also established himself as a filmmaker. In 2004, he wrote, directed, and starred in the independent film Garden State. The film was highly praised for its emotional depth and the soundtrack curated by Zach Braff, and won the award for best debut at the Sundance Film Festival. His other film projects include The Last Kiss (2006), Wish I Was Here (2014), which he again took responsibility for as director, writer, and lead actor, as well as Going in Style (2017).
