Sam Neill, born on September 14, 1947 in Northern Ireland and raised in New Zealand, is an actor and one of the most distinctive character actors in international cinema. With his intelligent performance and unmistakable presence, he has shaped films across a wide range of genres for decades.
Sam Neill had his breakthrough in the 1970s with roles in Australian and New Zealand cinema before gaining international recognition. Worldwide success came to him in 1993 with the role of Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. As a paleontologist fighting for survival on an island full of dinosaurs, Sam Neill became known to millions of viewers worldwide. His collaboration with Spielberg cemented his status as a Hollywood star, and he returned in the same role in Jurassic Park III (2001).
Beyond his science fiction successes, Sam Neill demonstrated his talent in sophisticated dramas and historical productions.
